Trocadero Green

Jacques 1985 (Tuileries)

Morning, 2 January 2019

To awake with sorrow
Labels of sadness touching the heart-soul
A memory in Paris
Trocadéro Green
stretching towards Eiffel’s lighthouse
putting new film in my camera
the light perfect, new
when
a handsome young man, warmly
questions my choice of  film,
an alluring smile upon his oriental face
His words kind,  baritone, seductive
Listening to the melody of his accent
I inquired as to his native land,
“Germany,” he replied
Dashing enculturated colors
My American face slapped with prejudice
beside that reminder
The universal touch came true
The query was not to take a picture
But to lure me into bed

the words of a famous comedienne
(a label that brought her fame)
She said two things she did not bring
To her act were her color or her sex
So obvious they need no context
Like the mouth beneath your nose
